Mc Pork

They love pork here in Japan. Today at Hakuba Mc Donalds I had a Mc Pork, sounds creepy I know, but it was kind of OK...

Day 8-YANABA!

Today we got a ride to Hakuba Station and then got on a train to shred Yanaba. It's a rad little mountain with only two chair lifts and is pretty much all park...super fun! Lift tickets are so cheap too, (like 1000 Yen-$15 AUD). Since we have not seen too much fresh snow and we are poor, I think we will be shredding there some more! Here are some pics...(sorry about the lack of shredding pics, we were having way too much fun to stop and take photos).

The view from the top of Yanaba is nice, I don't know the name of the lake though

Down-town Hakuba

This wasn't today, but we took this on the way to the Onsen the other night, where we had to nude up in a bath-full of Japanese men, but thats another story...:P

This is nothing to do with anything, but I'm drinking the smallest can of Fanta I have ever seen, and I look like a turtle whilst doing so...

Day 6: More Shredding, But Less Photos

So today it was bluebird again which you can't complain about. We rode Happo-One, because we were a bit silly and bought 2 day passes. High Cascade park was pretty sick although there was some solid snakeing going on and it was a little icey! So we rode till like 4 or so, and then bailed and came back to the lodge and sessioned the pipe again. It was fun...

We didn't take the camera today so no photos, but there will be more on the way.

P.S Bye Orla & Cozi Moto! :) :)

Day 5: Bit Of Fresh

So this morning we woke up to about 10 cm's of snow, which was so sick as it was our first bit of fresh since we had arrived. We all got up pretty early even though we were still a little seedy from the 'Butter Bar' from 2 nights ago and rode Happo-One. There was a fair bit of fresh to be had, but it got real tracked out and super icey pretty quickly. We bailed on that after a few runs and once we ate Maccas for lunch.

So then we came back to the lodge and started to session the rail/pipe that we dug out and set up the other night. It was so much fun and everyone was riding well and getting new tricks. The in-run is pretty ghetto, as it on top of a stack of wood but it is still rad.

So then just before we got a lift into Hakuba to do some shopping at 'Jusco' and as we only like 200 yen between the three of us we got some cash out at 7-11. So as you can imagine this was quite convenient.

Here is Dee and I looking at some rare food.

Day 4-Severely Hung...

Last night was NABE night at the Morino Lodge. This involved having a big communal diner with the rest of the lodge and we ate this traditional Japanese noodle-soup/stew thing which was on the table and cooked in front of us, it was rad! There was plenty of Asahi from the vending machine flowing, and tones of wine at dinner. We then embarked on an interesting journey through the woods to the 'Butter Bar', with out new friends from Perth Orla and Cormac. It was a super-loose night to say the least! Today was a semi-write off, as we started shredding at 2pm. The weather here has been crazy, it's been super sunny with no snow so far, real spring-riding conditions! We also set up a rail tonight at the lodge after shredding, so we will have pics of that soon! Here are some photos from today...

Hung-over with headaches and ready to shred!

Dylan 'Big Lips' Neilsen

Dee sleeping on the Shinkansen this afternoon...Yeah Banger!!

Planes Trains & Automobiles (in that order)...

So it's finally happened! We just arrived in Hakuba about 2 hours ago after traveling all night and all day! We flew from Melbourne to Hong Kong, then Hong Kong to Tokyo. Then caught a train from the airport to Tokyo Station. Then a train from there to Nagano, then a bus from Nagano to Hakuba! Besides some gnarly check-in excess baggage problems, (which were sorted out because of some amazingly cool people at Cathay Pacific) it was a rad trip here and it was super fun to catch the Bullet Train from Tokyo to Nagano! Pretty cold here in Nagano, no fresh, but apparently there is High Cascade park at Happo-one, so we will probably play there tomorrow. Here are some pics from getting here today.

Tokyo Station waiting for the Asama Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Nagano

We had a little bit of proddy to lug around, which was especially funny to watch each other take up half-a-dozen flights of stairs. Shan had some issues with an escalator, and I kept running into crew with my bag and saying 'sorry' a Japanese accent because I didn't know how to say it in the language.

The Shinkansen are freaking crazy fast!
